Resolution Honoring Gerald “Jerry” Derr
WHEREAS, the Dane County Towns Association (DCTA) was established in 1972, and Jerry Derr became the Association’s second President in 1991, serving with unwavering dedication for 33 years until his passing in 2024; and
WHEREAS, Jerry Derr was deeply committed to town governance, tirelessly advocating for the interests of towns across Dane County and Wisconsin and contributing significantly to their growth and development through effective leadership and public service; and
WHEREAS, Jerry’s impactful leadership extended beyond the DCTA, as he also served on state boards and community organizations focused on municipal services and local governance, leaving a lasting mark on the broader community; and
WHEREAS, Jerry will be remembered for his thoughtfulness, deep knowledge, perceptiveness, and good humor, qualities that were consistently evident during Board meetings and related events; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Dane County Towns Association recognizes the immense contributions of Gerald “Jerry” Derr to town governance and his enduring legacy, which will benefit generations to come; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Association honors the life and service of our President, colleague, and friend, Jerry Derr, and profoundly mourns his passing; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be placed on the Association’s website, and that our heartfelt condolences be shared with Jerry’s family.
